F1 Launches 2025 Sim Racing Championship with $750,000 Prize Pool

The world of virtual Formula 1 racing is revving up for an exciting season as all 10 official F1 teams prepare for the 2025 F1 Sim Racing World Championship.

This prestigious virtual competition will feature 30 elite sim racers competing for a substantial prize pool of $750,000 (approximately £615,513).

Each F1 team has selected 3 talented drivers to represent them in this digital racing spectacle, which will unfold across three major events containing a total of 12 thrilling races. All races are set at 50% of their real-world counterparts’ length.

The drivers aren’t just racing from their bedrooms either – they’re competing from professional F1 simulators at the EFG studio in Stockholm, Sweden, all connected through high-speed Wi-Fi.

The championship will utilize the latest racing simulator game, F1 24, developed by Codemasters and published by EA Sports. The game features all the latest cars, teams, and tracks from the 2024 Formula 1 season.

It will take place across iconic F1 circuits that fans know and love, including:

  • The challenging Albert Park Circuit in Australia
  • The historic Silverstone track in the UK
  • The technical Circuit of The Americas in the USA
  • The thrilling Interlagos circuit in Brazil
  • The dynamic Shanghai International Circuit in China

Championship Schedule:

  • Event 1 (January 14-16, 2025): Opens with a 29-lap race at Melbourne’s Albert Park Street Circuit, followed by three additional races over the next two days.
  • Event 2 (February 12-14, 2025): Features four intense races that will test drivers’ skills and consistency as the championship battle heats up mid-season.
  • Event 3 (March 25-27, 2025): The final four races will determine both the Drivers’ and Constructors’ Champions.

All races will be broadcast live through official F1 channels on YouTube, Twitch, and Facebook, as well as dedicated F1 Esports social media platforms.

Looking back at the previous season, Frederik Rasmussen of Oracle Red Bull Sim Racing clinched the 2023/24 Driver Championship in a nail-biting finish against Thomas Ronhaar from Kick F1 Sim Racing Team.
