Evo, the world’s premier fighting game tournament organizer, has revealed its ambitious plans for 2025, featuring an expanded lineup of events across multiple continents and a brand-new awards ceremony celebrating the fighting game community (FGC).
The season kicks off with the first-ever Evo Awards on February 15, 2025. This new addition to the calendar introduces 21 different award categories, ranging from traditional recognitions like Player of the Year to unique distinctions such as Best Button, which highlights outstanding character moves in various games.
Evo Las Vegas 2025: Main Stage Games
The flagship event, Evo Las Vegas, returns from August 1-3, 2025, with registration already open. The main stage will showcase eight premier fighting games:
- Street Fighter 6 (Capcom)
- TEKKEN 8 (Bandai Namco Entertainment)
- Mortal Kombat 1 (Warner Bros. Games)
- Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves (SNK)
- Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising (Cygames)
- Guilty Gear -Strive- (Arc System Works)
- Marvel vs Capcom 2 (Capcom)
- Under Night In-Birth II Sys:Celes (Arc System Works)
In a significant format change, Evo 2025 will feature an extended tournament lineup beyond the main stage games. Additional titles include:
- Rivals of Aether II (Aether Studios)
- The King of Fighters XV (SNK)
- BlazBlue Centralfiction (Arc System Works)
- Guilty Gear Xrd REV 2 (Arc System Works)
Evo General Manager Rick Thiher emphasized the event’s growth: “This year’s event will feature new games, an expanded arcade section, featured artists, and community programming throughout the show.”
Global Expansion
Evo is also expanding globally with several key events:
- Evo Japan (May 9-11, 2025): Will feature special 5v5 tournaments for Street Fighter III 3rd Strike and Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O.
- Evo Europe (October 10-12, 2025): Making its debut in Nice, France
- Evo Singapore: Announced for 2026, marking the brand’s first Southeast Asian event
