The 5th week of the Esports World Cup 2024 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, wrapped up with a bang, showcasing intense competition across three major esports titles.

From July 29 to August 5, fans witnessed nail-biting finishes in Rainbow Six Siege 2, Honor of Kings, and Apex Legends.

1) Rainbow Six Siege: Team BDS Wins

Swiss esports organization Team BDS clinched victory at the Rainbow Six Siege Esports World Cup, defeating Brazilian powerhouse w7m esports in a decisive 3-0 sweep in the grand final.

Interestingly, this win marks Team BDS’s third consecutive victory in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, with all matches ending in 3-0 results. In previous years, they defeated Team Falcons and M80 at the Gamers8 tournament of 2021 and 2022.

With this victory, Team BDS claimed $750,000 from a $2 million prize pool and earned 1,000 club points.

Team BDS’s roster includes Stéphane “Shaiiko” Lebleu, Loïc “BriD” Chongthep, Théo “LikEfac” Mariano, and recent additions Josh “Yuzus” Pritchard and Fatih “Solotov” Türker.

Swiss powerhouse dominated the tournament, maintaining an undefeated streak throughout the group stage and beyond.

The Grand Final was a Bo5 series, but the European squad showcased their prowess, sweeping the first three maps to win the game.

The event recorded a peak viewership of 67,873 during the Grand Finale between BDS and w7m. It averaged 25,081 viewers with a total of 854,818 across 34 hours of airtime, according to Esports Charts data.

2) Apex Legends: Alliance Takes the Crown

The Apex Legends Esports World Cup 2024 concluded with Alliance winning the championship after a grueling seven-hour grand final. They earned an impressive $600,000 from the $2 million prize pool and 1,000 club points.

The European team, featuring veterans “Hakis” and “Effect” along with their newest member “Unlucky,” made history as the first major title winners from the EMEA region at EWC.

The grand final was a nail-biting affair that kept fans on the edge of their seats for seven long hours. The final stretched across 13 maps, as match point-eligible teams struggled to clinch the decisive win. The last game came down to Luminosity Gaming, Team Liquid, and Alliance.

Despite strong competition from Luminosity Gaming and Team Liquid, Alliance’s strategic play and teamwork in the final moments secured them the victory.

Alliance’s star player “Hakis” was named MVP and received an additional $50,000 for his exceptional performance.

The grand finals had a peak of 206,697 viewers. The average viewership was 96,135, with a total of 2.5 million views across 26 hours of airtime, according to Esports Charts.

3} Honor of Kings: KPL Dream Team Claims Victory

China’s sole representative, KPL Dream Team, won the Honor of Kings Invitational Midseason at the first edition of the Esports World Cup (EWC), defeating Malaysia’s LGD with a 3-0 clean sweep in the final.

With their victory, KPL Dream Team secured $1 million from the second-largest prize pool to date at the EWC, totaling $3.05 million, and garnered 1,000 club points.

The KPL Dream Team’s debut roster features Fly, Pang, Rong, Yinuo, and NoFear. This roster was finalized after an extensive selection process involving fan voting and evaluation by a professional team before they were officially inducted.

The star-studded squad took 1st place in Group B, defeating all group teams – Weibo Gaming MY, All Gamers Global, Loops, BOOM Esports, and Team Falcons.

They dispatched Myanmar’s Impunity 2-0 in the quarter-finals and swept Hong Kong’s AG Global 3-0 in the semi-finals.

This dominant performance continued into the finals, where they maintained a perfect record without dropping a single game (13-0) throughout the entire tournament.

Yinuo was named the Finals MVP and won $50,000 for his exceptional skill and decision-making at key moments.

The event recorded a peak viewership of 480,189 during the finale Team Honor and Team Kings match, ranking 5th highest so far in EWC after MLBB, LoL, CS2, and PUBG.

It averaged 93,510 viewers with over 2.5 million total viewers across 26 hours of airtime.
