Classic Dinosaur Horror Games Dino Crisis 1 & 2 Return to PC

Dino Crisis 2

In an exciting development for retro gaming fans, GOG has announced the revival of Capcom‘s beloved dinosaur survival horror series, Dino Crisis.

Both the original 1999 release and its 2000 sequel are now available on PC through GOG’s platform, complete with modern system compatibility and enhanced features.

These PlayStation-era classics, which blend the terror of Resident Evil with prehistoric predators, have been largely inaccessible on modern systems until now. Through GOG’s Preservation Program, both games have been carefully updated to run smoothly on current hardware while maintaining their original charm.

Modern Improvements for Classic Games

The GOG release of Dino Crisis comes with several significant improvements. Players can expect:

  • Full compatibility with Windows 10 and 11
  • Support for 4K resolution (1920p)
  • Enhanced DirectX rendering
  • Multiple language options including English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, and Japanese
  • Improved stability for save files
  • Includes Original, Arrange, and Operation Wipe Out modes
  • Improved transparency, texture mapping, and stability
  • Enhanced registry settings for smoother performance
  • Full support for modern controllers, including PS5’s DualSense and Xbox Series controllers

Dino Crisis 2 receives similar treatment, featuring:

  • Updated Windows compatibility
  • Enhanced rendering options
  • Improved music playback
  • Better item rendering
  • Multiple game modes including the Easy Mode, Dino Colosseum, and Dino Duel

The Future of the Franchise

Despite ongoing fan demand for a remake or a new sequel, Capcom has shown little interest in reviving the series. The last entry in the series was 2003’s Xbox-exclusive Dino Crisis 3.

The release of Exoprimal in 2022, a multiplayer game featuring dinosaurs, was widely seen as a final blow to the hopes of a Dino Crisis comeback. Additionally, franchise creator Shinji Mikami stated in 2024 that Capcom’s focus on Monster Hunter left little room for a Dino Crisis revival.

However, things have changed lately. Capcom has announced a reboot of Onimusha for 2025. Given its survival horror elements, this move could indicate a renewed interest in bringing back long-dormant franchises. If Onimusha performs well and Capcom runs out of Resident Evil games to remake, a Dino Crisis revival could finally become a reality.

Community Involvement

Furthermore, GOG has also introduced its new “Dreamlist” feature alongside this release. This tool allows fans to vote for games they’d like to see preserved and rereleased on the platform, potentially helping to resurrect more classic titles in the future.
