Crow Country

Crow Country, the survival horror game, has recently achieved an impressive milestone by surpassing 100,000 copies sold, as announced by the developer, SFB Games.

The indie game, which pays homage to classic PS1 survival horror titles and draws inspiration from the likes of Silent Hill and the original Resident Evil series, has resonated with players across various platforms.

Two-thirds of the total sales were recorded on Steam, while the remaining copies were sold on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch.

The game follows a federal agent investigating a chilling mystery at an abandoned amusement park. Throughout their journey, players face eerie, challenging zombie-like enemies, solve intricate puzzles, and explore the haunting surroundings.

Upon release, Crow Country garnered positive reviews from critics. The game’s visuals, inspired by earlier horror classics, its compelling storyline, and engaging gameplay were particularly praised. Combat and puzzles received mixed feedback, with some players enjoying the nostalgic mechanics, while others found certain aspects of the gameplay challenging. The game earned strong scores across several platforms: an 84/100 critic score and 7.9 user rating on Metacritic, a 91% on OpenCritic, and an impressive 94% on Steam, showcasing its appeal to horror fans and casual players alike.

The game’s developer, SFB Games, a London-based small indie studio known for their work on the Nintendo Switch exclusive Snipperclips, is thrilled with the game’s success.

Co-founder Tom Vian expressed his gratitude to the dedicated fans who have showered the game with praise in the six months following its launch, noting that the timing is particularly fitting as the Halloween season approaches.

To celebrate this milestone, SFB Games is collaborating with Fangamer to create exclusive merchandise, including t-shirts, plushies, and physical copies of the game, set to be available on October 29.

While SFB Games does not currently have plans for any follow-up content or additional ports of Crow Country, the studio is likely focusing on developing future projects.

In 2024, indie games have seen strong success, with titles like Palworld, Content Warning, Animal Well, and Balatro making notable impacts.
