CREEK & RIVER and Bandai Namco Entertainment have joined forces to create URS Games, a brand-new mobile game development studio based in Tokyo, Japan. The company kicks off operations on April 1, 2025, bringing together two powerhouses in the Japanese gaming industry.
This exciting partnership combines CREEK & RIVER’s creative talent pool with Bandai Namco’s beloved game characters and marketing expertise. Their shared goal? To develop mobile games that can reach and delight a wider global audience.
Katsuhito Aoki, president of CREEK & RIVER, expressed his enthusiasm in a press release (via Gematsu): “We are very happy to be able to start our business without any problems. As the name of our company suggests, we will sincerely aim to create content that will be loved not only in Japan but also around the world.”
CREEK & RIVER isn’t new to the gaming scene. Since 1990, they’ve built up one of Japan’s largest game development networks, with over 500 creators in their roster. They’ve contributed to popular titles like “Bravely Default” for Nintendo 3DS and mobile games such as “Terra Battle 2.”
What makes them valuable in this partnership is their knack for finding and nurturing creative talent, plus their solid technical expertise in network technology and character design.
Bandai Namco, meanwhile, brings some serious gaming cred to the table. Born from the merger of toy giant Bandai and arcade legend Namco (yes, the folks who created Pac-Man!), they’ve given us iconic game series like “Tekken,” “Tales,” and more recently, the massive hit “Elden Ring.”
They’re also no strangers to mobile gaming success, with titles like “Dragon Ball Z: Dokkan Battle” already performing well in the market.
The mobile gaming market continues to grow worldwide, and this partnership signals both companies’ commitment to expanding their footprint in this space.
