CD Projekt has shared its financial results for 2024, marking the third-best year in the company’s history in terms of net profit—despite not launching any major new titles.
The developer reported total revenue of PLN 985 million ($254 million), which is a 17.9% drop from PLN 1.2 billion ($310.4 million) in 2023.
Net profit also dipped slightly by 2.3%, reaching PLN 469.8 million ($121.5 million), compared to PLN 481.1 million ($124 million) the previous year.
A huge part of CD Projekt’s earnings came from Cyberpunk 2077 and its expansion, Phantom Liberty. Together, these titles pulled in nearly PLN 600 million ($155.1 million) in revenue. By November 2024, Cyberpunk 2077 had sold over 30 million copies, while Phantom Liberty exceeded 8 million units.
The Cyberpunk universe is also expanding beyond gaming, with a new animated project currently in the works for Netflix. Additionally, Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition is set to launch on macOS in 2025, opening the game to a new audience.
CD Projekt is also making big moves with The Witcher franchise. The Witcher 4, also known as Project Polaris, officially entered full-scale production in November 2024. Meanwhile, Project Sirius, a multiplayer title set in The Witcher universe, remains in pre-production. To streamline development, the company merged The Molasses Flood studio into CD Projekt Red to better align the scope and direction of Project Sirius.
The Witcher Remake, announced back in 2022, is still in the concept phase and aims to bring the classic 2007 game to modern standards, taking inspiration from The Witcher 3’s open-world design.
To support these ambitious projects, CD Projekt has been steadily growing its workforce. As of February 2025, the company employs over 700 developers, marking a 10% increase from the previous year. The team working on the next Cyberpunk game, codenamed Orion, is expected to double by the end of 2025. Right now, 411 developers are focused on The Witcher 4 and related projects, 84 on Orion, 49 on Sirius, 17 on Hadar, and 122 are working across multiple projects.
Speaking of new projects, CD Projekt’s first fully original intellectual property, Hadar, is still in the concept stage. Unlike The Witcher and Cyberpunk 2077, which are based on existing works, Hadar is an entirely new universe being built from the ground up by CD Projekt Red. The project was first revealed in 2022, with early conceptual work starting in 2021. As of the latest financial update, it remains in early development.
On the partnership front, CD Projekt has teamed up with Scopely to develop a new game based on one of its IPs. While no details have been shared yet, speculation suggests it could be a mobile game set in either The Witcher or Cyberpunk 2077 universe. More updates on this collaboration are expected in the future.
Despite heavy investments in game development and a PLN 100 million dividend payout, CD Projekt managed to increase its financial reserves by over PLN 160 million in 2024. This financial strength ensures the company remains independent and continues to focus on high-quality, single-player RPGs. CFO Piotr Nielubowicz highlighted that Cyberpunk 2077 and its expansion played a major role in the company’s performance, while The Witcher 3 continues to generate stable revenue even after a decade.
The Witcher 4 also made waves at The Game Awards 2024. Its cinematic trailer, which introduced Ciri as the new main protagonist, became one of the most-watched trailers of the event, racking up over 8.1 million views on IGN’s channel—surpassing Elden Ring: Nightrigins and Borderlands 4.
As the company continues expanding its franchises and developing new IPs, fans can look forward to exciting updates in both The Witcher and Cyberpunk universes.
