Capcom is bringing together two major gaming communities for an epic Street Fighter 6 showdown in Tokyo. The event combines two popular tournaments – REJECT Fight Night and Sajam Slam – into one international championship scheduled for March 2025.
A Unique East Meets West Tournament
This new tournament isn’t your typical esports event. It’s bringing together gaming creators and professional players from both Japan and North America in a unique format. Teams will include a mix of experienced fighting game veterans and newcomers, all competing for their country’s pride.
The Minds Behind the Tournament
Two major forces in the fighting game community are joining hands for this event:
- REJECT: A leading Japanese esports organization founded in 2018, known for hosting REJECT Fight Night events. They’ve featured legendary players like Tokido, Leshar, and Daigo as coaches who help popular Japanese creators and V-tubers learn Street Fighter 6. REJECT’s roster includes not just fighting game champions but also content creators and V-tubers from various gaming backgrounds.
- Sajam: Winner of the Fighting Game Streamer of the Year award, Sajam started the Sajam Slam tournament series in March 2024. The tournament has already seen four successful events, with the most recent one taking place at TwitchCon San Diego in September 2024.
How the Tournament Works
The championship will feature four teams in total:
- Two teams from Japan
- Two teams from the United States
For U.S. and Canadian creators interested in participating, qualifiers will be held in January 2025 by Sajam. The two winning teams will receive an all-expenses-paid trip to Tokyo for the finals.
