Canadian Game Awards Return February 15th, 2025, at TIFF Lightbox

Canadian Game Awards

The Canadian Game Awards will return on February 15th, 2025, at 8 PM ET to celebrate the country’s thriving video game industry. The event will be hosted live at Toronto’s iconic TIFF Lightbox, a renowned venue for cultural events. This marks the show’s first return since its last edition in April 2023, as it took a hiatus in 2024.

The awards are produced by Carl-Edwin Michel, the founder and former CEO of Canadian esports organization Northern Arena.

This year’s event promises a more streamlined approach, combining all categories, including indie and AAA games, into a single, one-and-a-half-hour show.

The Canadian Game Awards have a history of highlighting the best in gaming from across the country. In 2023, the ceremony was split across two days, with Halifax-based Andrew Shouldice’s Tunic earning top honours for its innovative Zelda-inspired gameplay.

While the full list of nominees is yet to be announced, several standout Canadian games from the past year could be contenders. These include Balatro by LocalThunk1000xResist by Vancouver’s Sunset Visitor, Dragon Age: The Veilguard from BioWare Edmonton, and Lil’ Guardsman by Toronto’s Hilltop Studios.

Fans and industry professionals can look forward to purchasing tickets to attend the gala in person, with more details to be revealed soon.
