British Esports Launches New Rocket League Tournament with £5,000 Prize Pool

British Esports Cup 2025

British Esports has unveiled a new grassroots competition, the British Esports Cup featuring Rocket League, scheduled to run alongside the RLCS 2025 Major in Birmingham. This tournament aims to discover and showcase emerging Rocket League talent across the United Kingdom.

The tournament is open to all UK residents aged 13 and above, welcoming players from both PC and console platforms.

Online qualifiers are scheduled from March 14 to 16, 2025, where teams will compete for a spot in the grand finals.

The top teams from these qualifiers will advance to the finals, held on March 26, 2025, during the official RLCS Major Media Day at BP Pulse LIVE in Birmingham. The finalists will compete in a Best of 7 match (Bo7) for a share of the £5,000 prize pool.

According to British Esports President Chester King, this inaugural cup represents a significant milestone in providing aspiring esports athletes with a platform to gain recognition in the UK competitive gaming scene.

Meanwhile, The RLCS 2025 Major Birmingham is set to take place at BP Pulse LIVE from March 27 to 30, 2025. This event marks the first arena competition of the official Rocket League Championship Series season, featuring 16 of the world’s top teams competing in front of a live audience. The RLCS has announced an increased prize pool of $5 million for the season, underscoring the growing prominence of Rocket League esports.

The British Esports Cup is part of the broader ‘Game On Birmingham‘ series, which includes various esports events and the ‘West Midlands Unwrapped’ business summit. The summit, scheduled for March 28, will bring together industry leaders, educators, and businesses to discuss the West Midlands’ role in developing esports and nurturing talent.

The initiative has also garnered substantial support from government officials, marking a significant step forward for the UK esports ecosystem. Industry experts believe this tournament could serve as a catalyst for young players considering professional gaming as a career, especially in the Rocket League.

The British Esports Cup is delivered in partnership with BLAST, as part of British Esports’ ongoing strategic partnership announced in June 2024.

Registration for the British Esports Cup is now open. Interested players and teams can sign up and find more information at britishesportscup.gg.
