Bohemia Interactive, the largest game studio in the Czech Republic and renowned for the Arma series, announced a 34% revenue increase, reaching $60.8 million for the financial year 2024. This growth was driven by key game expansions and new releases across multiple platforms.
Co-founder and CFO Slavomír Pavlíček expressed his satisfaction with the year’s performance, saying it “exceeded all expectations.”
A major contributor to this success was Frostline expansion to DayZ, which was released on October 15. This update brought new gameplay mechanics, enhanced challenges, additional diseases, updated fishing features, and winter-themed cosmetics to the six-year-old zombie survival game. “The expansion has won the hearts of gamers around the world, and has been a great success,” Pavlíček said.
Bohemia Interactive expanded several of its older titles to new platforms in 2024. Arma Reforger, initially released in 2022 for PC and Xbox, was introduced to PlayStation 5, where it found a growing audience due to its unique position in the military simulation genre. Similarly, the free-to-play survival shooter Vigor, originally launched in 2019, became available on PC, while the action-adventure game Ylands made its debut on the Nintendo Switch.
The decade-old tactical shooter Arma 3 also remained a strong performer, with two new DLC packs boosting player engagement. The Expeditionary Forces DLC, launched in November, introduced new maps, weapons, and missions, while the Western Sahara Update enriched an existing DLC with vehicles, equipment, and fresh content. Currently, the game is discounted by 80% on Steam.
Pavlíček highlighted Arma Reforger as a standout success, stating that “it has no competition in its genre” and player interest continues to rise across all platforms, even into 2025. Meanwhile, Arma 2, another classic title, has sold over 47 million units since its launch 15 years ago.
Bohemia also revealed that 99% of its 4.85 million games and DLC sales in 2024 were from international markets. The United States accounted for 42% of sales, followed by the UK and Germany with 7% and 6%, respectively. Emerging markets like Ukraine and Brazil showed significant growth as well.
Looking ahead, the studio is working on Arma 4, powered by the Enfusion Engine, with Arma Reforger serving as a prequel spin-off to test its features.
