Is Bloodborne Finally Getting a Sequel or Remaster?

Bloodborne

Bloodborne fans, get ready, as there is a new rumor in town! According to prominent movie leaker DanielRPK, “There’s a new Bloodborne game project in development.”

However, he is not sure about whether the project is a sequel or a remaster.

Since its release in 2015 for PS4 only, Bloodborne fans have been craving a sequel or remaster for modern-gen consoles or even a PC port. However, there has been no confirmation or even a hint from the developer FromSoftware or publisher Sony as of now.

In the last 3-4 years, rumors have started circulating about something brewing in the studio.

In 2022, gaming journalist Jeff Grubb, in an Xbox Podcast, informed that Sony was trying to bring a new Bloodborne game but was facing difficulties in porting or remaking it due to the game’s unique development process, which only FromSoftware fully understands. Also, the studio was working on Elden Ring and later on, its post-launch DLC, as it was a huge hit, so they couldn’t jump straight into developing a new Bloodborne game for now.

A year later, David Jaffe, known for his work on God of War and Twisted Metal, confirmed that Bloodborne was “being worked on.” But, like DanielRPK, he was also not certain whether it was a remaster or a PC port at that time.

Last month, Hidetaka Miyazaki, the game’s original director, hinted at wanting Bloodborne to come to PC but stopped short of making any definitive statements.

With upcoming events like the rumored State of Play in September and the Tokyo Game Show, there’s potential for new announcements and we hope it is about Bloodborne.

Currently, the game is only available on PS4, and on PS5 through backward compatibility, not a dedicated version.

Interestingly, last week, a PlayStation 4 emulator, ShadPS4 emulator, optimized Bloodborne to be playable on PC. While it’s still glitchy, it’s good progress for those who have been waiting to play this masterpiece on PC.
