Bloober Team, known for its recent remake of Silent Hill 2, has announced its next major project: a sci-fi horror game titled – Cronos: The New Dawn.

The announcement was made during the Xbox Partner Showcase, held on October 17, highlighting Bloober’s new direction in the horror genre.

The game is being developed for the Xbox Series X|S, PC, and PS5 and represents Bloober Team’s first original franchise in the survival horror category.

Set in an eerie, post-apocalyptic future in 1980s PolandCronos: The New Dawn weaves a unique twist on time travel, promising players an intense and haunting experience. According to the official press release, the story blends horror with science fiction, creating an atmosphere of suspense and dread in a world where survival is far from guaranteed.

The reveal trailer showcased several fascinating elements that have already gotten fans talking:

  • Third-person perspective gameplay similar to Dead Space
  • Zombie-like creatures
  • Chess-playing characters
  • Characters wearing environmental suits, adding to the game’s sci-fi tone.
  • A unique blend of historical and sci-fi horror elements

Piotr Babieno, CEO of Bloober Team, expressed the studio’s excitement about this new project, saying,

“Our commitment to redefining the horror genre continues with this survival horror title, which represents a natural progression of our creative vision and our studio’s strategy. By merging the eerie atmosphere of horror with the boundless potential of science fiction, Cronos promises to deliver a fresh survival experience.”

The announcement comes fresh off the heels of their successful Silent Hill 2 remake, which launched in October with positive reviews. It already made 1 million sales in just 3 days and became the fastest-selling Silent Hill game ever. The studio has built a strong reputation in the horror genre with titles like Layers of Fear and The Medium.

Cronos: The New Dawn is slated for release in 2025, and fans of sci-fi and horror alike are eager to see how Bloober Team’s new franchise unfolds.
