BetBoom Team Wins BLAST Slam I in Thrilling Grand Final

BLAST Slam I, the first major Dota 2 tournament hosted by BLAST, concluded in Copenhagen, Denmark, on Sunday, December 1st. The event featured ten invited teams competing in a Group Stage followed by a King of the Hill/Gauntlet Playoff bracket, a unique format in professional Dota 2 tournaments. The total prize pool for the tournament was $1 million, with BetBoom Team emerging as champions and winning $400,000. Tundra Esports secured second place and received $200,000.


Tournament Format

The competition began with a Group Stage, where teams played Best-of-One matches to determine their playoff seeding. The top teams in each group advanced directly to the Semifinals, while others entered earlier rounds of the single-elimination playoffs.

Key Matches

The Group Stage featured several notable matches:

  • A clash between Team Falcons and OG resulted in a server crash during an 80-minute game. The match was replayed, with Team Falcons winning in 45 minutes.
  • Xtreme Gaming’s Lou recorded the highest Gold Per Minute (GPM) in professional LAN history during a match against Gaimin Gladiators.

In the single-elimination playoffs, the results were as follows:

  • Team Spirit 1-2 Gaimin Gladiators

The tournament attracted a peak viewership of 199,000 during the Grand Final. It averaged 97,000 viewers throughout, with a total watch time of 4.8 million hours over 49 hours of broadcast, as per Esports Charts.
