The popular card game Balatro is now available on Xbox Game Pass.
Developer LocalThunk has also released a free DLC pack featuring collaborations with several major gaming franchises.
The announcement came at Microsoft’s recent ID@Xbox showcase.
The new DLC, called “Friends of Jimbo Pack 4,” focuses more on blockbuster games compared to previous collaborations that mainly featured indie titles.
Players can now decorate their card decks with famous characters like Fallout’s Vault Boy, Ezio from Assassin’s Creed, The Journalist from Bugsnax, and The Hillbilly from Dead by Daylight.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Rust, Critical Role and Slay the Princess are joining too.
This DLC is currently available across all gaming platforms.
Balatro originally launched on Xbox, PC, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch about a year ago. The game later expanded to mobile devices with iPhone and Android versions released last September.
The game has been incredibly successful, with the developer announcing it has sold over five million copies in less than one year.
Originally given an 18+ rating, the game is finally getting a more appropriate PEGI 12 rating in the European Union.
Since its initial release, Balatro has consistently added new content through updates. Previous collaborations have included crossovers with other popular franchises such as The Witcher, Among Us, and Vampire Survivors.
The game has received high praise from critics. The inaugural Indie Game Awards named it Game of the Year while the prestigious The Game Awards 2024 awarded it Best Indie Game.
