Astro Bot has set a new record by becoming the most-awarded platformer game in history. The charming PlayStation 5 exclusive, developed by Team Asobi, has collected 110 Game of the Year (GOTY) awards so far, surpassing the previous record holder It Takes Two (88).

Launched in September 2024, Astro Bot quickly rose to become 2024’s highest-rated new release. By November 2024, it sold over 1.5 million copies – an impressive figure considering the game was developed by a relatively small team of 70 people over three years. And by December, it claimed a triumphant victory at The Game Awards 2024 where it claimed the prestigious Game of the Year award.

According to data from gamefa.com’s Game of the Year Award Tracker, Astro Bot’s 110 awards place it in an elite company. Elden Ring leads the list with a total of 435 Game of the Year awards to date, followed by The Last of Us Part 2 with 326 awards, and Baldur’s Gate 3 with 288 awards.
