The Moroccan government has taken a significant step to support its local gaming startups by launching a new incubator program with assistance from the French Embassy.

The “Video Game Incubator” program officially kicked off in Rabat on Monday, aiming to nurture 9 startup ventures in the video game sector.

Morocco’s Minister of Youth, Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid, attended the launch event alongside representatives from the French Embassy and key figures from the gaming industry.

The five-month program will provide comprehensive training covering essential aspects of game development and business management.

Participants will learn about video game pre-production, brand strategy, business operations, production oversight, and financial planning. According to Morocco World News, the startups will also benefit from mentorship by international gaming experts and valuable networking opportunities with potential investors and partners.

Minister Bensaid noted that this program is part of a broader agreement signed between Morocco and France last October, supported by King Mohammed VI and French President Emmanuel Macron. The partnership aims to strengthen cultural and creative industries in both countries, with gaming being a key focus area.

We hope Moroccan companies will emerge as global leaders in the gaming field,” Bensaid stated.

Agnès Humruzian from the French Embassy described the collaboration as a cornerstone of Franco-Moroccan cultural cooperation, highlighting gaming as an industry that creates significant opportunities for young people.

Julien Villedieu, founder of Level Link Partners (LLP), explained that the incubator was specifically created by video game professionals to help local startups compete globally. This program represents an important milestone in establishing Morocco as a competitive player in the international video game market.
