Capcom has announced a new three-year partnership with the Esports World Cup Foundation, bringing its popular fighting game Street Fighter 6 to the global esports event in Saudi Arabia through 2027.

The Japanese video game company will connect its existing tournament structure – including the Capcom Pro Tour, Capcom Cup, and Street Fighter League – with the Esports World Cup (EWC) being held this summer in Riyadh.

This partnership creates a new pathway for players, as winners from Capcom’s tournaments will earn spots to compete in the EWC, while the EWC champion will secure a place in the prestigious Capcom Cup 12.

According to the announcement, 48 players will qualify for the EWC Street Fighter 6 competition. 30 of these spots will come from Capcom Cup 11, the Street Fighter League, and five Premier events happening in 2025.

So far, 21 players have already secured their places, with the remaining competitors coming from major tournaments like Combo Breaker, EVO, and a last-chance qualifier.

The Esports World Cup has become a major force in competitive gaming since its inaugural event last year, which brought together 1,500 top players and 200 clubs from 100 countries. The tournament boasts significant prize money, with a reported $60 million in total prizes across all game titles in the competition.

Capcom isn’t the only major game publisher partnering with the Esports World Cup Foundation. Riot Games has also joined forces with the organizer, bringing popular titles like League of Legends, VALORANT, and Teamfight Tactics to the tournament. Additionally, developer SNK Corporation has signed a similar three-year deal to include their fighting game FATAL FURY: City of the Wolves in the competition.

Chess.com, the Call of Duty League, and Level Infinite (which includes Honor of Kings and PUBG Mobile) also have a similar three-year deal with EWC.
