10:10 Games Lays Off 19 Employees Following Poor Performance of Funko Fusion

Funko Fusion developer 10:10 Games has cut approximately 19 jobs as part of a recent restructuring effort. The UK-based studio, which released its first game just last September, has reportedly been struggling after the title failed to meet commercial and critical expectations.

According to Insider Gaming, employees first learned about the potential layoffs in mid-January when management announced that 19 positions were at risk. The studio, Founded in 2021 by industry veterans Arthur Parsons and Traveller’s Tales founder Jon Burton, employed around 100 people based on public records and the company’s website.

The affected employees were promised support through the process, including help finding new work. However, multiple former employees told Insider Gaming that this assistance hasn’t materialized. Making things worse, some staff were reportedly on company-encouraged holiday leave when they received the news, yet were still expected to attend consultation meetings regardless of their location or time zone differences.

The situation became more controversial when laid-off employees discovered they would receive what one described as “the bare legal minimum” for severance – just their notice periods and payment for unused holiday time. Several former employees believe the company intentionally encouraged holiday use over the Christmas season knowing layoffs were coming, potentially to avoid larger payouts.

When staff asked about the reasons behind the cuts, they were reportedly told that Funko Fusion was a “complete commercial and critical failure” that prevented the studio from securing funding for multiple future projects. Lower-level employees were informed there “isn’t enough work to give the whole team,” with layoff decisions allegedly based “entirely on the needs of the next project” – a project that sources believe hasn’t even been fully designed yet.

Notable to those affected was that apparently no senior leadership or upper management lost their positions in the restructuring.

10:10 Games represents just one of many gaming companies facing difficulties in 2025. In just 40 days of the year, the games industry has seen nearly 1,000 known job losses across 27 companies – following an estimated 16,000 layoffs throughout 2024.
